James A. Ussin and William E. Steele established U Bar S in 1962. Both men had strong roots in Montana and a strong network that came from living across the state, owning several successful businesses, military service, and a strong business sense. They based U Bar S on integrity and an appreciation for the importance of a strong client-agent relationship.

In 1990 Jon M. Ussin assumed leadership in the office. From the strong foundation that Jim and Bill established, Jon has continued building a business structure that draws clients from Montana and beyond.
